报告题目:Hot and dense Lattice QCD: Supercomputing nuclear matter in extreme conditions

报告摘要:
Under conditions of extremely high temperature or large densities the constituents of hadrons, quarks and gluons, can get liberated and form a new, largely unexplored state of matter——quark gluon plasma, which is supposed to be the state of the early universe a few microseconds after the big bang. First-principle numerical calculations based on lattice regularized Quantum Chromodynamics (Lattice QCD) allow us to study the transition from the hadronic phase to the quark gluon plasma phase. They provide invaluable inputs to the interpretation of large experimental heavy-ion programs at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, Switzerland. In the talk I will start by a general introduction to heavy ion collision physics and Lattice QCD, and then review recent success at understanding the properties of hot and dense matter from lattice QCD as well as the role of supercomputers in our research.

丁亨通,教授,华中师范大学“夸克与轻子物理”教育部重点实验室副主任。2010年于德国比勒费尔德大学获得博士学位,随后在美国布鲁克海汶国家实验室和哥伦比亚大学从事博士后研究工作。2013年回国加入华中师大聘为教授。主要方向为利用格点量子色动力学的大型高性能数值计算方法研究强相互作用核物质在极端温度、密度和外场条件下的性质。目前共发表学术论文80余篇,总被引次数七千一百余次,篇均被引八十余次,其中6篇Phys.Rev.Lett.,1篇有限温度密度格点QCD长篇综述文章(ESI高被引)。多次受邀在领域内重要大型国际会议上宣讲大会报告,自2016年来为历届国际格点场论年会IAC委员,为第37届、在国内第二次举办的国际格点场论年会的会议主席,创建了国内第一个有限温度密度格点QCD专用超算平台。
