报告内容:
Energy-energy correlators (EECs) are event-shape observables that can be used to study QCD by examining angular correlations between produced particles. As the EEC is weighted by the energy, it is an infrared-safe observable that is less sensitiv e to physics at the nonperturbative scales. The energy weight also allows one to e xploit the momentum-sum rule of fragmentation functions, making the EEC less s ensitive to the nonperturbative hadronization in the final state and allowing one t o zoom in on other aspects of the collision process.

Jani Penttala is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles. Jani Penttala obtained his Ph.D. in 2023 from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, and was awarded the Mikael Björnberg Memorial Fund prize for a young theoretical physicist by the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters based on his thesis work.
In his research, Jani focuses on mapping the three-dimensional structure of nuclei in high-energy collisions. His work consists of perturbative calculations in QCD using the transverse-momentum-dependent factorization and the color glass condensate effective field theory. Recently, he has also started working more closely on energy-energy correlators as a tool for precision studies of QCD.
