Statistical physics focuses on understanding the macroscopic properties of physical systems through the interaction among their microscopic constituents, which connects different scales of physical phenomena in a quantitative way. As a methodology, statistical physics is adopted at various scales of physical systems, from particle physics, to quantum systems, and to astrophysics.

We are specifically interested in the statistical physics of disordered systems (spin glasses) and its various interdisciplinary applications in the contexts of graphs and networks, such as developing mean-field theoretical frameworks for structural phase transitions in random graphs, message-passing algorithms for optimization problems, statistical inference, and learning problems in artificial neural networks. In our research, both analytical theory and computer simulation are heavily involved.
